Local Business Heads To Jersey Shore For Storm Cleanup ? CBS ...

HARRISON TOWNSHIP (WWJ)?- A Metro Detroit company has crews traveling to areas that have been hit by Hurricane Irene, which has now been downgraded to a tropical storm. About 40 people from Jarvis Property Restoration in Harrison Township are heading to the Jersey Shore and other areas along the east coast where Irene has hit.

Jarvis Vice President Matt Jarvis is on his way to the East Coast after answering several calls for help.

?With the heavy rains and the heavy winds still there, there was some calls of some roof damage and some water intruding some of the buildings. So, our extraction crews and dry-down crews are also responding.?

And, Jarvis said they?ve called in another 250 people to head to the east coast to help out in hard hit areas.

?We?ve had a couple of shopping complexes, some grocery stores and also a few businesses that we?ve done work for in other states that have actually called us just because they are without power and really worried about the flooding issues.?

Jarvis says they have generators and other equipment to repair flood damaged property.

?Mainly right now it?s the power up so they can? there?s a couple of?grocery stores that they?re worried about their inventory and then also there?s food and everything. If they lose that, they can?t assist and sell any of their products, so right now, we?re shipping all the generators over there.?

Meantime, local American Red Cross and Salvation Army volunteers are also headed to the coast to help out.
