Dancing With the Stars Recap: Ricki Lake is (Nearly) Perfect; Cher Cheers on Chaz

An episode centered around movie themes was obviously going to mean a few eye-rollers - DWTS is not a serious competition, Carrie Ann reminded us.

Nevertheless, Ricki Lake's tango was sublimely top-notch, set to the Psycho theme that ending with her partner, Derek Hough, stabbing her in silhouette.

It was really good, despite how hokey we made it sound. We can't do it justice and the 10's she got from Carrie Ann and Bruno are proof positive of that!

Len? He held out, giving them a 9 for a 29 overall.

Last week's leader, J.R. Martinez, was smooth doing the fox-trot, earning 26 points for outright second place in spite of dressing up in hot pink Monday night.

For The Pink Panther theme, obviously. Gotta love DWTS.

Hope Solo, who has been a bit a dull this fall (save for her nude ESPN magazine cover), impressed the judges for the first time and scored a strong 24 total.

Ditto Rob Kardashian, who continued to improve with a Superman-themed paso doble and cemented his place as - dare we say it - one of the favorites now?

After those four, it was a logjam on the leaderboard.

David Arquette's paso doble earned mixed results, with Len (who looked like he was still steamed from Kristin's elimination last week) in the negative camp.

Chynna Phillips was so lackluster that she was truly remorseful, apologizing to fans and partner Tony Dovolani for being off her game. Will voters save her?

A living legend, Cher, was in the audience as promised to watch son Chaz Bono paso doble to the Rocky theme. He did mom proud with his best dance yet.

Even Len couldn't help but heap praise on the controversial star and and Carrie Ann was moved to tears. As was mom, but that's a little more expected.

Nancy Grace stumbled at the TAIL end of her paso doble, but she didn't let one rip this time that we're aware of, so we'll consider it a modest success.

Carson Kressley brought up the rear with 20 points, but will he be given the heave-ho tonight? Clearly several other celebs could beat him to the punch.

Here's a look at Monday's Dancing With the Stars scores:

  • Ricki Lake & Derek Hough: 29
  • J.R. Martinez & Karina Smirnoff: 26
  • Hope Solo & Maks Chmerkovskiy: 24
  • Rob Kardashian & Cheryl Burke: 24
  • David Arquette & Kym Johnson: 23
  • Chaz Bono & Lacey Schwimmer: 21
  • Chynna Phillips & Tony Dovolani: 21
  • Nancy Grace & Tristan MacManus: 21
  • Carson Kressley & Anna Trebunskaya: 20

Who do you think has danced his or her last? Do you agree with the pairs on top and on the bottom? Who's going home on tonight's results show?
