Mexico sub-20s demolish LA Blues 5-0 in first of two CONCACAF tune ups

From Press Release:

ANAHEIM, CA ? The National Soccer U20 Mexico, preparing to play the qualifying in CONCACAF World Cup heading to 2013, demolished the LA Blues 5-0 Friday in the first of two games that took place at Titan Stadium at Cal State Fullerton.

The Qualifier will be played in Puebla in February next year and will feature 12 area teams, with the top three going straight to go the World Cup.

After a few initial minutes of even play, the scoring gap was established in the second half, when coach Sergio Almaguer modified the team, sending into the pitch the ?heavy artillery? including four players that are part of the team?s base.

The first goal of the match came after 21 minutes of play, with an unstoppable right footed shot??from??Uvaldo Luna, from the edge of the box, marking the difference at the end of the first half.

The 2-0 came after 53 minutes of play and was the creation of the world champion from Chivas, Giovani Casillas, who netted the ball after a pass from the left wing from Raul Lopez.

Arturo Alfonso Gonzalez scored the third goal at the 62nd minute.

Another World Champion from the U-17 team,??Jorge Espericueta, Tigers, scored the fourth, the most colorful bicycle kick, in the 77th minute.

The fifth goal again came from Gonz?lez near the end of the game,

?There is no doubt that the Tri is a great teamt,? said the coach of the Blues, Juan Flores. ?We have been shown the areas where we need to work for the future. We knew that this team was a real goal scoring machine and could not adapt to the individual and collective talents of the Mexicans,? he said.

Regarding the second match, the coach said: ?We will make some changes and hopefully put a little more resistance, but no doubt will continue to face a team that is sound both technically and tactically, that is well prepared, and that has a great potential going into the World Cup competition. Given that, we can only continue to gain experience and continue developing a following with the public. That?s also good for the Blues, independently of the results.

The Mexican team will conclude their tour of international matches in 2012 with another match against the Blues this Sunday November 18th at the College of East Los Angeles, in a match scheduled for 4:00 pm Pacific Time.
