Women love shoes. Even if you aren?t a slave to fashion you probably have at least ten pairs of shoes in your closet.? The day when style has to take second place to comfort is a bitter pill to swallow.? Sensible is good, but most of us will? admit to being a little envious when we watch television shows? featuring strong women medical examiners, lawyers, doctors and spies wearing 4 inch heels, and looking absolutely fabulous.
If your feet are swollen or ache from arthritis you know that your fascination with shoes has to change, but you can still look fine. ??Christine Schwab in her ?Sense & Style? column for Arthritis Today (September/October 2012) writes about her personally tested favorites and yes, they look good.? ?(www.ArthritisToday.org/SO12).
Comfort and style are important, but foot health needs to figure into the equation too.? I actually felt excited when I read an article in the Wall Street Journal (Thursday, November 8, 2012) by Christina Binkley (WSJ.com/Fashion) about designer flats. ?The fashion world has finally caught on.? The article featured ?power flats,? and declared that they are challenging the dominance of high heels.? Granted, the prices listed were astronomical, but if you could have one pair of comfortable flats that looked good enough to take you from the boardroom to the opera, wouldn?t you do it?
I haven?t felt this excited about shoes for years, but these flats are sensational, and they are being seen on fashion runways.? The dowdy image has been eradicated with style details of every description.? Flats are being shown with evening dresses as well as slacks and suits.? Sleek, and colorful and stylish?wow!? It makes me want to go shoe shopping right now.
Women are too busy to lag behind, teeter on stilts, or wince with pain in the interest of fashion. ??A flat shoes offer speed, better balance and comfort.? You can wear stylish flats without having to announce to the world that you have health concerns. ??Go ahead make a statement?even grandma can wear stylish shoes now.
