It is very critical, especially as we get older, to start looking to live a healthier lifestyle. We Jamaicans and many others in the rest of the world are way too liberal when it comes to our health, lifestyle and eating habits. We don?t take care of ourselves well enough to start a balance diet and we pass on our careless ways to our children and before we know it we are dead or obese. The KFC and Burger King have to be reduced day by day and week by week. it?s very important to us to not live in the moment but to be thinking long term, whether we are 9 or 39.

Today we are bombarded with diseases and conditions; diabetes, hypertension, cancer and so many more. We need to stop the frivolous eating habits and start exercising, something most of us don?t do until a particular situation comes along. I know many people out there with diabetes. It?s a disease that?s a killer and believe it or not, prevention is better than cure and we can prevent certain types of cancer by eating right. Often times cancer chooses at random, even with the best of lifestyles, eating or otherwise.

Now we are in a world where McDonalds? or Juici Patties? or Wendy?s products are more affordable than in our parents? and grandparents? times. It?s important that we refrain from eating too much of these foods on a long term basis as it may save our lives. God knows we need to! Eating excess rice and white bread can increase the number of years we spend on this earth, take it from people who have been there and are living longer, healthier lives. They have great stories to tell.

You can?t prevent everything but you can delay them and prolong your life. Try to eat whole wheat products like bread and if you don?t like the taste try to put a bit of jam, butter or peanut butter until you can wean yourself off them and acquire the taste of the whole wheat. Don?t overdo the butter, jam or cheese as it?s not good and you can increase your fat and cholesterol intake. It should be gradual and temporary. Also, stay away from red meats and as foods you get from as before like that of Burger King or Juici Patties ore Wendy?s foods. Fried foods and greasy food are literally a recipe for death and disaster. They are serious killers so less Popeye?s and KFC!

See if you can go to the gym or job several times a week for the exercise. You?ll see great results. Eat foods like fruits or vegetables if you are fasting and don?t over eat when you break this fast. You could get bloated up. Eat less salty foods and cook with less salt as well as reduce the amount of sugary foods as you can prevent diabetes. Try a few of these tips and see how it works out for you. You would be sure to add years to your life!
